Spring is well known for being a season of new beginnings and fresh starts. Some of us are better or more renowned for doing this as others. If this is you, you could be a Multipotentialite
What is it to be a Multipotentialite?
Have you ever found a passion, spent all your spare cash and time mastering that passion, only to become bored the moment you have learnt everything there is to know about that subject? If so (and you have probably done this on multiple occasions), you could be a Multipotentialite!
Me? I am a classic multipotentialite! Over the years, I have mastered crochet, jewellery making, photography, how to keep an array of animals, amongst many other things. I have spent a lot of time and money learning new skills, only to drop it all a week later for something else.
Why is it seen as a bad thing?
In the past, I used to get very annoyed with myself for this behaviour. As did my parents who often had to pay for these passions! However, in an ever evolving culture, it is becoming more and more important to embrace this quality.
Why should you embrace it as a good thing?
More and more people are using their array of skills and talent which they have picked up to come up with new and innovative ideas. Multipotentialites are excellent at adapting to a changing climate and to learning skills fast. Combine that with a creative mind and you will often find people who have come up with an idea which others would have never dreamed of before!
I myself have used my experience and skills which I have learnt over the years to create Crunchy Leaves and Sunsets. You will have noticed that whilst I focus on mental and emotional wellbeing, I am exploring the different ways this can be addressed. This allows me to embrace my multipotentialism in a focussed and organised way.
So for those of you this is ringing bells with, spend some time thinking about all the hobbies and interest you have had over the years. Work out if there are any common themes. More importantly celebrate all the skills you have picked up. Maybe you could use again in the future in new and exciting ways?
Enjoy who you are and stop worrying that you ‘cannot commit’ to something. Remember to maintain your mental wellbeing it is good to learn. By being a multipotentialite you are looking after yourself and growing as a person. People will find you much more interesting as a result.
