Routine might be a bit of a strong word. I am massively guilty of falling asleep in my make-up more often than not. But as my mother likes to tell me, I’m not getting any younger and so I have to admit that I need to try and look after my face, if not the rest of my body! So these past few months I have been making an effort to wash my face and apply some lotions and potions to stop myself look as old as I feel sometimes. I know some people would read this and think my routine is primitive, but I like to think of it as ‘time-efficient’! So here we go!

Preparation

One thing I have done for the longest time is put something on my face to protect it whilst I have make-up on. Currently I am using the Body Shop Youth Serum which you can find here. I was lucky enough to be given some sample sizes and they come with a little pipette which means I don’t put too much on. It’s great just to inject a bit of moisture into my skin before I slap a load of stuff over the top of it! I put this on every morning without fail.

Cleansing

Now, if my bank balance would allow for it, I would definitely always use the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser. Normally my mum buys it for me for christmas/birthday but I go through it so quickly I needed to find something to fill in the gaps between gifts! Luckily Superdrug do a fantastic version which I use in the interim. Each comes with a muslin cloth which I soak in hot water whilst I massage the cleanser into my skin. Then I use the cloth to wash off my make-up, before rinsing with cold water to close my pores.

Why waste time?

Spot on?!

Yes, spots! I must be the only person on the planet who still gets spots post puberty! It is also a well known fact that I cannot resist doing something about them. I have a ‘tool’ which I use to sort them out (if you’ve watched Dr Pimple Popper then you will know!). Before I go any further in my routine, I address these little blighters to make sure they are not blocked by more products. You can grab yourself a similar contraption here.

Final Touches

After I have beaten my spots up, I nourish my face with some moisturiser. At the moment I am using the Superdrug Vitamin E Night Cream. It’s cheap and cheerful and I certainly always feel better for putting it on. I am not a fan of thick and greasy moisturisers, and this one certainly doesn’t feel heavy on my skin.

It’s not a complicated routine, but for me it works. If it was more detailed I simply wouldn’t do it!
