My Week in a Word: Planning

Planning for the future is fun, just don't wish your life away

I know they say you should never wish your life away, but recently I have been so excited about the upcoming weeks. I have had a lot of planning to do for various occasions, and it’s so much fun!

For those of you who are new to my website, you might not realised just how much I enjoy planning and organising things. My friends joke at how much I enjoy ‘organised fun’, but it’s true! With so many special events coming up, I’m beside myself making sure everything is sorted!

Birthdays Galore!

Not only is it my birthday this week, but there are several more birthdays of friends and family coming up over the next month or so. At the moment I am deep in the doing phase for my birthday party next weekend. I completed the planning phase back in August, you will be pleased to know! Whilst I am doing all this though, I am also planning what presents to buy people, a packing list for three different trips (all in the space of 10 days), and starting to draft my content for Blogmas. That leads me nicely onto the other rather important things I’m currently planning…

The Big C!

I know it feels like we only just had the last one, but Christmas is less than 8 weeks away now. I know some people who started the shopping months ago, I wish I was that well prepared! No, I like to kick the countdown to Christmas off about 6 seconds after my birthday. With so many fun activities, presents, decorations and of course blogmas to sort out, I really should start planning all of this sooner! Although having said that, I did start brainstorming my blogmas content in September, so I guess that counts.

Planning with a Planner

Oddly enough I use a planner for organising all of this stuff. One for my content creation and one for everything else. My ‘everything else’ one is more of a notebook than a planner, so guess what’s gone on the birthday wish list?! There are some absolutely lush planners out there, or you can design your own one with packs you can buy in craft shops. I have chosen to do the latter, because it allows me to be creative as well as be organised.

Why is it Fun?

The answer to this question is tricky for me. I don’t know why I enjoy planning things so much. For me I guess it’s all part of the excitement and build up to something. I love the anticipation of an event as much (if not more sometimes) as the event itself. I love imagining how a day might go, thinking about all the fun we are going to have and all the memories I am going to make. If I’m planning something for someone else, I like to think about how happy it will make them feel and therefore how happy I will be for them. Actually maybe it wasn’t such a difficult question to answer after all!

So that’s what I’ve been up to this week, and will be doing for the next few weeks at least. Well, if we’re honest I don’t think I ever stop planning things! It’s a balancing act between living in the moment and planning for the future…..
