A Step Further To Zero Waste

After reviewing the reusable pads and finding that wasn’t actually as traumatising as I thought it was going to be, I figured I should really get the ball rolling and try some other reusable products. And as we had already started in the bathroom, I thought it would be make sense to continue here.

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be gifted a gorgeous set of reusable make up pads from the lovely Tanya at Seams2Me. Made with Bamboo, these cute little pads are not only using sustainable materials, but they are also said to be really absorbent and kind to you skin. I was really looking forward to trying these out.

I have never been a massive fan of cotton wool. The texture makes my teeth go on edge! Plus I hate how quickly they disintegrate if you’re using anything vaguely abrasive. I also detest those disposable face wipes! They never get all my makeup off . They just leave me with really sore skin in the process of trying. I was more than ready to find a replacement.

Planet-Friendly Packaging

A couple of days after talking to Tanya, I received the sweetest little paper parcel. Inside was a bundle of seven pads. Held together with a strip of paper (all recyclable) which gave instructions on how to clean and look after them. I decided to try using them with my usual face products and with just plain water to see how they faired.

So I trialled the pads for a good couple of weeks prior to starting to write this. One thing I was conscious of after trialling the period pads was how quickly they would wash and dry. But as you can probably guess they were ready a lot quicker. Mainly due to the size and the fact that they don’t need to ‘hold’ so much!

I have to say I’m very impressed with these pads. Such a simple and effective solution to the reducing the amount of waste we use every day when we cleanse. Not only did they work well with both my products and tap water, but they were kind to my skin. I didn’t have to use more than one at a time. This meant I had plenty of time to wash and dry them without running out. The pads are beautifully and securely stitched so that they don’t fall apart . Definitely an important aspect for me, I can be a bit heavy handed from time to time!

Are you trying to start a zero waste lifestyle? this is a really easy place to start..

The Verdict on Reusable Makeup Pads?

To sum up, these pads are a perfect replacement to cotton wool pads. I think seven is the perfect number for this bundle too. They are easy to hand and machine wash and don’t take long to dry so turnaround is quick. They are strong and durable whilst still being pretty. I am well and truly converted!
